NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
REGARDING AN ORDINANCE REDISTRICTING
CARROLL COUNTY, VIRGINIA
TO ESTABLISH BOUNDARY LINES
FOR EACH ELECTION DISTRICT; TO PROVIDE FOR ELECTION
PRECINCTS IN EACH ELECTION DISTRICT; TO ESTABLISH
BOUNDARY LINES FOR EACH ELECTION PRECINCT;
AND TO ESTABLISH POLLING PLACES
IN EACH ELECTION PRECINCT

The Board of Supervisors of Carroll County, Virginia will on April 25, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as practical in the Board of Supervisors meeting room, 2nd floor, 605-1 Pine Street, Hillsville, Virginia, conduct a public hearing to receive public comments on the adoption of a proposed ordinance redistricting Carroll County, Virginia to establish boundary lines for each election district; to provide for election precincts in each election district; to establish boundary lines for each election precinct; and to establish polling places in each election precinct. The following changes to the current redistricting ordinance have been proposed:

1. Areas north of Galax currently in the Pipers Gap District switched to the Sulphur Springs District.

2. Area north of US Highway 58 in the Woodlawn area currently in the Pipers Gap District switched to the Sulphur Springs District.

3. Area north of US Highway 221 between State Route 100 and Big Reed Island Creek currently in the Laurel Fork District switched to the Pine Creek District.

4. Area south of the Blue Ridge Parkway in the vicinity of what is commonly known as the Cascade Mountain Subdivision area currently in the Laurel Fork District switched to the Fancy Gap District.

5. Area south of US Highway 58 between Interstate 77 and US Highway 52 currently in the Pipers Gap District switched to the Laurel Fork District.

6. Area north of the Blue Ridge Parkway between State Route 701 (Joy Ranch Rd) and US highway 52 currently in the Pipers Gap District switched to the Fancy Gap District.

7. Area south of State Route 97 and west of State Route 620 (Lambsburg Rd) currently in the Fancy Gap District switched to the Pipers Gap District.
